UFO Hobbies

Out of this world actionreported at Los Angeles model event.

One Saturday this past March, UFO Hobbies of Los Angeles, California, held their Second Annual Model Car Show at the Los Amigos Mall on Jefferson Blvd. Plant Air Custom Air Bags and Graphics made the show possible by sponsoring the event. UFO Hobbies had it all down with a variety of classes for Best Car, Truck, Bomb, Hot Rod, Interior, Candy, Flake and Mural just to name a few. All 13 First Place winners received a trophy, while Second and Third Place winners received competition ribbons for their efforts.

We could see that the action at UFO Hobbies was off the hook as soon as we arrived, with many unbelievable models displayed on tables for all to see. The event brought out many people whom we had never seen before. One gentleman named Larry had eight or more models on display, including an '84 Chevy Caprice, '87 Chevy Monte Carlo wagon and '87 Buick Grand National among other fine rides. Gaudencio snagged a couple of First Place trophies for his '39 bomb.

We could identify several other modelers at the UFO Hobbies show, such as Edward from San Diego, California, who had an Acura Integra and Hummer on display. We also had Chuckie, who displayed nine of his finest rides, including '46 and '56 Fords, a '57 Chevy Bel Air, a very far out '65 Ford Galaxie and a '76 Chevy Caprice "glasshouse" that was a clear winner.

The competition was stiff at UFO Hobbies, but we believe that everyone went home happy. We'd like to thank UFO Hobbies for inviting us down to check out their facilities and cooler than cool show. We'd also like to mention that they're going to have another show this November, so if you'd like to attend or get more info call (323) 321-0369. We're told that they will once again have First, Second and Third Place trophies in a bunch of different categories.
